WDET Membership Specialist (Posting Number: 045420)
JOB PURPOSE
Oversee the day-to-day management of WDET's annual giving plan. Secure individual gifts through direct mail, telefundraising, and online. Partner with the General Manager and Major Gifts Officer in creating, planning, and executing membership strategies. Lead projects designed to create more net revenue and develop strong working relationships across departments to ensure integrated strategies.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Lead the design and implementation of an annual giving strategy that will meet the annual revenue goal. Plan and develop fundraising campaigns and donor relations programs that cultivate, solicit, recognize and steward individuals, alumni and other constituent groups to secure an ongoing base of support.
Analyze operations and report on progress to goal and effectiveness of individual tactics. Record, track and evaluate data and information to make strategic and tactical recommendations about the membership program. Prepare and present reports as requested.
Monitor and analyze complex department budget including forecasting revenue and expense flow.
Manage project strategies to ensure completion within established deadlines. Design and implement programs and initiatives that promote best practices and monitor project status to ensure adherence to established time tables and specifications.
Serve as liaison for constituent groups and primary liaison for membership services and relations. Receive and effectively resolve membership-based inquiries.
Manage relevant vendor relations and monitor deliverables and performance against goals to insure maximum ROI.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION
Bachelor's Degree
Graduation from an accredited college or university in marketing, public relations, business administration or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Extensive computer skills including knowledge of fundraising software programs.
Specialized training with Allegiance fundraising systems or comparable fundraising software strongly preferred. Strong understanding of revenue sources; public media experience preferred.
Working knowledge of data bases and financial systems.
EXPERIENCE
Minimum 3 years’ experience in public radio or TV membership fundraising and strong project management skills. Strong project management experience with proven track record of successfully meeting revenue targets. Experience in working with donor databases. Team leadership experience; must demonstrate an ability to foster high standards and the ability to coach, inspire and lead, even from a non-supervisory position. Demonstrated track record in meeting revenue goals and developing strategies to maximize revenue from several sources.

Ability to prioritize and plan work activities; adapt to changing conditions and develop strategies to achieve organizational goals. Ability to develop and implement strategic plans that meet desired results, including quantifiable outcomes within budgets and timelines.

Highly developed understanding of industry best practices and the ability to merge the conceptual/academic with real world application.
